Customers Weigh-in on Fleet Software Development: Xata Xperience BoardNovember 21, 2011
We’re looking forward to our next Xperience Board meeting on August, 17, 2013.
I had the privilege of organizing an event last week that brought some of XataNet and Xata Turnpike’s long-time customers together – something we call Xperience. This Customer Advisory Board was established to bring our customers together to learn from each other, collaborate on what they are doing and help Xata build products that meet our customer’s needs for the future.
Some great advantages emerge when bringing your customers together:
• Clients get an understanding of where we are going from a technology and roadmap perspective. An early peek into our long-term plans ensures that the things we are working on are customer-driven and in the best interest of our client base.
• Long-term visions are shared where solutions can be built around them. Not every business day can start with the big questions of “What are your goals for fleet management” and “What keeps you awake at night”. Thinking from that high-level view helps customers envision what their future should be, compared to what they may struggle with today.
• Clients learn from each other. It was amazing to hear how firms measure, monitor and coach their fleets. For our Turnpike customers, the variety of handsets was a popular subject with each firm comparing how their Android Tablet compares to their BlackBerry or Intermec deployment.
• Hearing how your solutions impact a company is gratifying. Sometimes we forget just how much we mean to our clients. Our solutions are critical for success, which underscores the need for reliable, scalable and expandable solutions.
At the end of the day, Xperience really helps Xata become less of a vendor and much more of a strategic partner with our clients. Having roadmaps in-line with our client’s view of fleet management helps both of us succeed. I truly believe our clients walked away having learned something, contributed more and aligned with where Xata wants to go. Thank you to firms that attended – I’m already excited for our next meeting!
