Big Rig of Change Helps Truckers in Need
August 2, 2012Professional driver, “Little” John Leistra is showing the trucking community he has a big, big heart. See, John has been donating his change to St. Christopher Fund since 2008. And we’re not talking mere pocket change. At the Mid-America Truck Show this spring, he donated 22.6 pounds of spare change. Now, his idea to collect spare change to help fellow truckers in need is taking off. The new SCF fundraiser, Big Rig of Change, hopes to collect 80,000 lbs. of change by the time the 2013 Mid-America Truck Show rolls around.

Supporting truckers who need a helping hand
When a driver is sick or injured and unable to drive, the money stops rolling in. And when the medical bills start arriving, especially in the case of the uninsured and underinsured, truckers and their families can falter under the weight of financial hardship.
Since 2008, SCF has been providing financial assistance to those truckers in need; helping them pay medical and living expenses, negotiating hospital bills and even providing scholarships to truckers who can’t return to the road and need to retrain for a new career.
Now, that’s a mission we can all get behind.
How you can help Big Rig of Change roll on
If you’d like to support Big Rig of Change, drop your spare change at the TA/Petro/St. Christopher Fund booth at:
• The Great American Trucking Show, August 23-25 in Dallas, TX
• Mid-America Truck Show, March 21-23, 2013 in Louisville, KY
Other trucking events are sure to be added, and change has already been collected at the Walcott Truckers Jamboree, Expedite Expo, and Great Lakes Truck Show.
Dr. Donna Kennedy, Executive Director of St. Christopher Fund, said, “I think the Big Rig of Change idea is fantastic: What a simple way to make such a huge difference in the lives of your fellow drivers!”
We couldn’t agree more. In fact, we at Xata will be collecting change at our Eden Prairie, MN and Oakville, ON offices to support the cause!
On August 13, 2012, Xata became XRS Corporation. Learn about our new name and new direction.
